I have so many things I want to say and so many things I want to share. splitcoaststampers Every time I think to myself ...... I'm going to do it ..... I do not. I can not think of one good reason why I do not have time to get on the blog writing.
So I decided to take what appears and it just does ..... why do I call the letter "The year 2013" When and where moments happen now no matter ..... what matters is what we did as the year she-bear! And if I left out something ...... please ladies remind me of it.
Times here in the shop is soooo nice and it's a pity Time flies so fast. She-Bear is almost 6yrs old! (All glory to Father) Remember the great she-bear birthday Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. Keeping the web and facebook track. I will keep you posted.
Let's start!! First, I told Charmaine van Jaarsveld who made headlines with her sheets in SA's magazines! She has pages every once in magazines and sometimes just with two more sheets. She even won a competition! Charmaine you like she-bear's reputation and we are so proud of you! These are some of her pages that I currently have on my computer can detect.

Making sure you’re ready to capture any planned event is part of the key to a successful shoot. Getting yourself ready but also the location of your shots is worthwhile. Pack the camera – goes without saying? I forgot mine last year in the rush to get the car packed. Make sure your batteries are charged and you have extras and/or the recharger packed. Pack extra memory cards – have them empty and ready to fill up Put someone on ‘photos’ – our family has someone on drinks, main course, dessert – why not put someone on ‘photos’ so that in the craziness of the day they don’t get forgotten. Consider the light in the room that you’ll be photographing in. Is there enough light? Will you need a flash? Are the backgrounds too cluttered and distracting? 2. A White Balance Christmas
Here in Australia we often celebrate Christmas outdoors, but many people around the world do it inside in unnatural lighting. Pay attention to what type of light you’re shooting in and set your white balance settings accordingly . Alternatively, if you’ve got a camera that shoots in RAW you can shoot away and set your white balance later. 3. Set up a DIY ‘Photo Booth’ mothers day message

All good shots should have a f ocal point that holds the attention of those viewing your images . The problem with Christmas is that there can often be too many competing focal points in shots with people, color, decorations, food in every shot. Work hard and de-cluttering your images. Check out this post on minimalism which contains some tips on de-cluttering images. 9. Fresh Group Photos
One of the most common types of shots at Christmas is the ‘group photo’. It’s usually taken at the end of the evening or day when everyone is looking at their worst. For a ‘fresher’ shot take it once everyone has arrived. Also think before hand about how you might pose everyone and where you might take the shot. I’ve posted 12 tips for taking a great group photo previously.

With Christmas just days away, it is time to recap all of the busyness that has occupied this past month. Katie and I have seen and done some exciting things these past days. The most exciting project was probably the shoe box ministry. Our church partnered with another webprint NGO to distribute shoe boxes from Samaritan’s Purse to needy students and children in Suhareka and surrounding villages. In one weeks time we were able to deliver thousands of shoe boxes that children in Germany had put together. It was a true blessing to share Christmas and an amazing opportunity to share God’s love.
We have also had some wonderful worship services in the Suhareka church. We are praying that God would continue to work in the lives of the people, including our own. We trust that the coming year will be full of new things and pray that more would come to know Christ.
We are also preparing for upcoming English courses. In January Katie and I will begin teaching conversational English to people from the community. The course will be held in the church and we are praying that God would use this outreach. We want to build strong relationships through webprint this ministry.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas and in our forums robert sabuda I’ve noticed more and more great Christmas images robert sabuda being shared – some of which feature a technique that is always popular at this time of year – Bokeh Christmas lights shots.
The technique takes a bit of experimenting and practice but is relatively simple to do. You need some Christmas lights and a camera lens with a reasonably ‘fast’ aperture (or a large aperture). robert sabuda
The key is to shoot at the larger end of your available aperture – this throws the background (and foreground) of your shot out of focus and any Christmas lights in the foreground or background will become little balls of light.
As you’ll see in most of the images robert sabuda featured in this series – the technique is particularly good if you also have some element in your shot that is in focus. This ‘subject’ might be a person, a pet, a Christmas decoration or something else.
While most of the images in this series have the Christmas lights in the background of the image (behind the subject) it is also possible to create robert sabuda the little bokeh balls of light by putting the lights in the foreground of your image (in front of your subject). You can see this in the image below. The impact is a little different as the bokeh balls will cover part of your subject.
To get these different little bokeh shapes is pretty simple. You just need to make a little cutout ‘mask’ for your lens. Rather than go over how to do it here check out this video tutorial that will walk you through it here .
The other way to change the shape of your bokeh balls is to experiment with different apertures. You’ll find that in most cases the larger your aperture the rounder the ball – but go for a slightly smaller aperture you may find your bokeh becomes more hexagonal (or Heptagonal or Octagonal the number of sides will depend upon how many blades your lens has).

Hey there! I am trying to achieve the heart shapes. However I am not getting robert sabuda the whole frame in the shot…. I am getting something that appears to be tunnel vision. Its distorted and dark on the edges. I am using at 1.8 with a 50mm and lens hood. Is the cut out too small? Please let me know what I am doing wrong….
Having the EXIF displayed is a good idea. But most of them or all are created with a fast lens that has a wider Aperture. Yup, there are some shots where flash has been used, nevertheless an inspiring post. Make me wanna make some shots now.
Great collection of bokeh imagery. Some have suggested that the EXIF data would be helpful, I’m not sure that’s true. Shoot wide open, focus on something in the foreground with lights in the background. Done. http://www.flickr.com/photos/superiorimagery/11509459215/

Love the post and thanks. In trying the boken on Christmas lights this year I was having trouble with ghost imagest of the lights covering my subject. Is there something I can do to prevent this? What is the cause? Any thoughts? robert sabuda
